Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort & Casino

The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort and Casino, now being transformed to echo the splendor of its north shore lakefront setting.

Tahoe’s New Grand Lodge
Hyatt Hotels is re-creating a classic 1920’s alpine “Grand Lodge” here with a $60 million investment. The recently completed first phase gave the world-class resort a rugged yet luxurious feeling – rich leathers, rough timber beams, smooth granite – in the lobby, guestrooms, four restaurants and 24-hour casino.

Grander Still
Phase II of the transformation began in March 2002. Adjacent to the main hotel and meeting space, and away from our peaceful, private beach, this $30+ million undertaking will hardly impact our guests until they experience the results. A new terrace wing with a 14,000 sq.-ft., state-of-the-art spa and 150 guest rooms and suites, the Aquatic Oasis with three tiered swimming pools…

Due to the uniqueness of this property, on this excursion one may feel that he or she has returned to the turn of the century. The grounds include a mile and three quarters of lake frontage with a number of sandy beaches and a unique untouched forest that marches right down to the water edge.

One of our favorite things on the property is the Erhman Mansion, known at the turn of the century as “the finest High Sierra summer home in Califonia”. It is now a fascinating example of the opulent tradition of Tahoe’s summer homes, serving as a house museum, complete with furnishings.

Squaw Valley Tram Ride
We start this hike with a spectacular ride up the tram at Squaw Valley, USA, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics. At the top of the tram (8,200 feet) you will find a lot to do from Bungee Jumping to swimming in the heated pool. Fun Facts

Fun Facts

Businessman hand pointing FUN FACT!

Lake Tahoe is 12 miles wide by 22 miles long.
The drive around the lake is 77 miles and takes at least 3 hours.
The average temperature of the water is 61 degrees and never varies more than three degrees either way.
The lake’s water is 99.7% pure. That is cleaner than the drinking water in most U.S. cities.
In optimum conditions, one can drop a rock in the lake to a depth of 125 feet and still see it clearly.
The lake is 1,645 feet deep at the deepest point yet measured. In other words, it is at least 5 1/2 football fields deep.
Eight feet off the shore at Rubicon Point, one could drop the Empire State Building into the lake, stack the Washington Monument on top of it and the two would be completely immersed in water with 20 feet to spare. But we do not encourage you to actually try it.
If Lake Tahoe were drained onto California, it would cover the entire state to a depth of 14 inches. Texas would be covered to 8 1/2 inches.
If a Panama Canal were built all the way around the equator, the water from Lake Tahoe would fill it with enough left to fill a second canal from New York to San Francisco.
The lake is home to many fish: Mountain trout, Rainbow trout, German Brown trout, Speckled trout, Mackinaw trout, Mountain Whitefish and Kokanee Salmon.
Kokanee salmon are land-locked salmon that were released into the lake by accident in 1940. Every autumn these fish have a spawning procession up Taylor Creek on the southwestern shore. They swim up the creek, lay their eggs, turn bright red and die.
There are 22 ski resorts around the lake for both downhill and cross-country skiers. There are more ski lifts in the Tahoe basin than in the entire state of Colorado.
